OUT OF OFFICE — Per Occurrence | 9/11 Insurance Graphic Tee
Description:
One appointment. One empty office. One phrase worth billions.
This dark historical satire references one of the strangest intersections of circumstance and insurance surrounding September 11, 2001. World Trade Center leaseholder Larry Silverstein has said he planned to be at the complex that morning but instead kept a dermatologist appointment after his wife urged him not to cancel it.
Following the attacks, another extraordinary story unfolded: the WTC carried approximately $3.5 billion of property coverage per occurrence, leading to years of litigation over whether the destruction caused by two separate aircraft constituted one insured occurrence or two.
OUT OF OFFICE / PER OCCURRENCE combines those two documented pieces of history into a deliberately uncomfortable vintage corporate advertisement—an empty executive chair, September 11 calendar, dermatologist appointment card, intact Twin Towers and the words that became the center of a multibillion-dollar insurance battle.
DISCLAIMER: Satirical historical commentary. Coincidence and subsequent insurance litigation are not evidence of advance knowledge or involvement in the September 11 attacks.
