The history:
NXIVM (pronounced "nexium") was a New York organization founded by Keith Raniere in the late 1990s, marketed as an executive self-help and personal-development program built around expensive "Executive Success Programs." Behind the corporate seminars, prosecutors revealed a secretive inner group in which women were coerced, branded, and controlled. Raniere was convicted in 2019 on charges including racketeering and sex trafficking and sentenced to 120 years in prison. The case drew intense media attention, several documentaries, and remains one of the most scrutinized modern examples of a "self-improvement" movement concealing systematic abuse.
