From DoNotOpen a series on the places, discoveries and sealed things humanity found and could not leave alone. Vintage poster art, heavyweight boxy fit, printed on demand.

The story:

In 1940, four teenagers and a dog stumbled onto a hidden opening near Montignac, France, and dropped into a cave no human had entered in roughly 17,000 years. The walls were covered in hundreds of Paleolithic paintings bulls, horses, stags and stranger figures preserved in near-perfect condition by the sealed, stable air. The cave opened to the public after the war, and within a decade the breath, heat and moisture of visitors began breeding mold and fading the art that darkness had protected for millennia. Lascaux was sealed again in 1963. Today only a replica is open. The original is watched by cameras, entered by almost no one preserved, once more, by keeping people out.
