The story:

In February 1959, nine experienced hikers led by Igor Dyatlov made camp on the slope of a mountain in the northern Urals. Something drove them out into the night. Searchers later found their tent cut open from the inside and abandoned, with the group scattered across the snow some barely dressed in temperatures far below freezing, some with injuries that have never been fully explained. Soviet investigators closed the case citing "a compelling natural force." Decades of avalanche theories, infrasound, and stranger ideas have followed, but no explanation has ever satisfied everyone. Nine hikers left the tent. None of them came back.
